Quality Flags

Quality flags are markers that can be assigned to individual time steps.

Define quality flags

Time series quality flags are defined by selecting “Edit quality flag definitions” from the context menu of the root node in the time series explorer (right-click to get the menu). ./QualityControl/image2.jpeg

A Flag definition data view opens. To add a new flag, fill out the last row in the ‘Flag type’ table.

To delete a flag, select the row and press the delete key.

To edit a flag, edit the values in the table.

Under the ‘Flag definition’ section, each flag is characterized by an integer ID (user specified), a description and a color.

After adding, deleting or editing values and selecting colours for various flags, click the Save button to save the changes made.

Assign a flag to a time step

To assign a quality flag to a time series value, add a time series to a new table.

Click on the ‘Show flags’ dropdown menu and select the flag to view

Next to the value to flag, click on the dropdown menu for that flag and select the description for the value.

Flagged values are marked by the flag color in the table (same colour from the Flag Definition Editor).

Filter time series tables by flag

Quality flags can be used to filter values in time series table.

To filter a table according to flag description, choose one or more flag descriptions in the flag drop-down list in the time series table.

To see all values, select the \ option..

To see only values with a given flag, choose one or more flags in the list.

To clear the flag filter, click on the same flag description used for initial filtering, so that the tick disappears.
